Under the Private Agencies Act 1971 (Akta 27), KDN licenses private agencies by type. Private investigation is licence type 2(b) Penyiasatan Persendirian. Optimal Security holds KDN licence No. 02260234, covering 2(b) and 2(a) Kawalan Keselamatan (security guarding).
