Every guard we deploy operates within a scope of duty set by site-specific SOPs and bounded by the powers granted under the Private Agencies Act 1971. For licensing and agency compliance requirements, see our security guard regulations guide.
These apply across all our KDN-licensed, PIKM-certified deployments.
Verifying identity, checking authorisation against lists, and screening vehicles strictly within client SOPs and licensed capacity.
Scheduled perimeter rounds and CCTV monitoring, with abnormalities escalated through a strict command chain up to PDRM when required.
Mandatory occurrence book logging and structured shift handovers, building an audit-ready paper trail in line with PIKM requirements.
Guards are not police officers. Authority is limited to the premises they protect, with only reasonable defensive force and KDN-approved equipment permitted. Suspects must be handed to PDRM immediately.
Guards must report on time and remain on post until formally relieved by the incoming shift guard or a supervisor. Abandoning post without authorisation is a serious breach of deployment terms.
All instructions from the Security Supervisor or Client Security Officer must be acknowledged, clearly understood, and strictly followed during the course of duty.
Serious violations — including sleeping on duty, intoxication, abandoning post, or disclosing confidential client information — may result in immediate termination and, where warranted, formal reporting to KDN under Akta 27. Optimal Security provides dedicated site supervisors who conduct unannounced post inspections and monthly performance reporting to clients.
For deployment-specific procedures by sector, see our static guard, industrial security, and commercial & residential security pages.
KDN-compliant prescribed uniform, clean and correctly badged, at all times on duty.
Sharing confidential client details is a conduct breach and may be an offence under the PDPA 2010.
Sleeping, alcohol, controlled substances, or personal phone/entertainment use on duty are grounds for immediate termination and KDN reporting.
Only job-related communication is permitted during active duty hours.
Prohibited in all non-smoking zones and client premises, per Act 852.
Every guard is the first visible face of the client's security posture.
For licensing, agency requirements, and legal penalties, see our security guard regulations guide.
